DUSHANBE, July 11, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Tajik National University (TNU) is considered to be the most expensive higher educational institution in Tajikistan, Deputy Education Minister, Farhod Rahimov, announced at a news conference in Dushanbe today.
According to him, Faculties of Law and Economics at Tajik National University enroll students in paid courses at the rate of US$2,000 to US$2,500 per year. “This academic year’s tuition fees will be raised and they have already been approved by the Ministry of Education (MoE),” Rahimov said.
In all, Tajik higher educational institutions will enroll 29,000 students this academic year; 19,000 students will be enrolled in paid courses and 10,000 others will be enrolled in so-called ‘budgetary’ (non-paid) courses. Tajik National University alone will offer 3,000 seats on 65 disciplines this academic year, the deputy minister noted.
It is to be noted that 87,000 students will finish high schools this year.
According to the Ministry of Education, 30 higher educational institutions now function in Tajikistan.
