KHJUNAD, January 12, 2012, Asia-Plus -- The Sughd capital development department now owes more than 4 million somoni to construction companies that have built the jubilee facilities in the province.
The Sughd capital development department head Samadjon Sattorov says this debt is some 2.5 percent of the overall amount that has already been reimbursed.
“Under the country’s legislation, we have the right to repay the remaining part of the debt in six months after the facility is put in commission,” said Sattorov, “I think we will repay these 4 million somoni in a week.”
The Sughd capital development department was customer for seven jubilee facilities in the area: the Palace of the Press in Khujand, Children’s Resort Center “Uqobak” in the Bobojonghafurov district; square in front of the Sughd administration in Khujand; the Ismoili Somoni Square in Khujand; Swimming Complex in Khujand; and two hospitals in the Bobojonghafurov district. All these facilities were put in commission in September 2010.
According to Sattorov, the Sughd capital development department is now customer for another large facility – renovation of the Arbob Cultural Palace. A total cost of the project is 35 million somoni and major repairs were launched at the Arbob Cultural Palace in the Bobojonghafurov district in November 2011.
The Arbob Cultural Palace is a building in Bobojonghafurov district, the former headquarters of a Soviet collective farm, built in the 1950s and modeled on the winter gardens of Peterhof, St. Petersburg.
The main building consists of three wings - with an ornate theatre seating 800 people in the main wing. The South wing currently houses a museum which tells the history of Arbob and of collectivization in Tajikistan. Outside the building is a procession of fountains and rose gardens. The center was built under the leadership of Saidkhoja Urunkhojayev, the head of the collective farm.
