“The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment to the Central Hospital in Norak City” with the total amount of US$105,674 financed by the Government of Japan in the framework of Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) has been successfully completed.
Established in 1967, the hospital has received approximately 6,500 patients annually as a main hospital in Norak city. The hospital could not provide appropriate medical service due to lack of modern medical equipment. Therefore, the hospital had to send its patients to other hospitals for diagnosis and treatment in many cases.
In order to improve the medical service in Norak city, the project supported provision of new medical equipment such as surgical table, electro coagulator and dry heat cabinet. The newly equipped medical devices will assist doctors in performing a precise diagnosis and in provision of appropriate medical service which will improve the health of people in Norak city.
Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) is provided to local governments, educational/ medical institutions and International NGOs in developing countries. GGP supports projects in the human security sectors at the grassroots level. Since 1996, GGP has extended more than US$ 20 million for 273 projects in Tajikistan.
