ADB statement on CASA-1000 project

DUSHANBE, August 27, 2010, Asia-Plus -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) would like to clarify recent media reports that have attributed certain statements to former ADB’s Country Director for Tajikistan, Mr. Makoto Ojiro, during his last press conference in Dushanbe on August 20, the ADB Resident Mission in Tajikistan reports.
ADB supports Tajikistan's policy to improve energy security, energy efficiency and energy trade, which is also consistent with the Central Asia Regional Cooperation (CAREC)’s energy agenda.
In relation to CASA-1000 Project, ADB is waiting for the results of the feasibility study on the project. Based on the results of the study, ADB’s position concerning CASA-1000 Project will be assessed.
